On March 29th 1970, Manson was charged with seven counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder. Pat, Leslie and Susan were also charged with murder and the jury called for the death penalty. Though in 1972, the supreme court overturned the death penalty so the sentences were turned into life sentences.

At the end of the trial Manson stated all they had really done was send him right back to where he had started. (Sarian)
