In Brooklyn, NY on September 14, 1973, a star was born. Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones aka Nas, the son of a jazz and blues musician and a postal worker, began his career with music already a large part of his life. During his teenage years he would go to the same studio that Kool G Rap and Rakim recorded at and when they weren’t in the booth he would take the opportunity to record his own tracks. He gave us hits like, “Ether,” “Nastradamus,” “Be,” and “Hate Me Now,” but what was arguably his greatest gift to the rap game was his album, Illmatic. Below is a link to a list of 10 reasons why, according to Complex Magazine.
