LET’S NOT FORGET ABOUT FRUIT!

Most fruits are low in fat, sodium, and calories. None have cholesterol!

Adding fruit can help increase the intake of fiber and potassium which are important nutrients that many Americans do not get enough of in their diet. (Just like with eating your veggies!) Fruits can also assist with keeping certain cancers at bay and reducing the risk of heart disease.

Diets rich in potassium may help to maintain healthy blood pressure. Fruit sources of potassium include bananas, prunes, and prune juice, dried peaches and apricots, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and orange juice.

Fun Fact: Did you know “veggies” such as tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and eggplant are actually FRUIT?! That’s because fruit has seeds, vegetables do not.
